Payments & Safety
Is my money actually safe?
Yes. When you pay for a Shop, Food, or Hotel order, your money goes to Ughelli Market Hub first — not directly to the seller. It's only released to them after you personally confirm you received your order. If something's wrong, you report it instead of confirming, and our team reviews before any money moves.
What if my order never arrives, or arrives damaged?
Don't confirm delivery — use the "Report Issue" button on your order instead. This flags it for our team to review, and payment stays held until it's resolved. Never let anyone pressure you into confirming before you're actually satisfied.
What's the delivery code for?
It's a private 4-digit code only you can see, tied to your order. Give it to the rider only when your item actually arrives — it's proof you're the real recipient, not someone else. Never share it before that moment, even if someone asks in advance.
Can I pay a seller directly instead of through the app?
Please don't — that removes all the protection escrow gives you. If a seller or anyone messaging you asks for direct bank transfer or payment outside the app, that's a red flag. Our messaging system automatically flags messages like this for our team to review.
What payment methods are accepted?
Payments are processed securely through Paystack, which supports debit/credit cards, bank transfer, and USSD — whichever is easiest for you.
Buying
Do I need an account to buy something?
No — you can check out as a guest with just your name and phone number. Creating a free account just means your order history and delivery codes are saved for next time.
How much is delivery?
It depends on your zone — Ughelli Main Town costs less than further Delta State towns. The exact fee is shown and added to your total before you pay, never a surprise afterward.
Can I track my order?
Yes — every order has a live tracking page showing each stage: payment confirmed, rider assigned, picked up, and delivered, including a live map of the rider's location once they're on the way.
What areas do you deliver to?
Ughelli Main Town, its surrounding environs, and towns across Delta State including Warri, Sapele, Asaba, Agbor, and more — new zones are added as more riders join.
Selling
How do I become a vendor?
Tap "Sell on UMH," submit your business details and a valid ID, and our team reviews it — usually within 48 hours. Once verified, you can start listing products, food, hotel rooms, or property immediately.
How much commission do you take?
A percentage of each completed sale, shown clearly on your vendor dashboard for every order — you always see the total, the commission, and your exact payout before it happens.
When do I actually get paid?
After the buyer confirms delivery (or a dispute is resolved in your favor), your payout is released to you.
Riders
How do I become a rider?
Apply with your ID, vehicle details, and a guarantor who can vouch for you. Any vehicle type is welcome — motorcycle, bicycle, keke, car, or van.
How much do I earn per delivery?
You see your exact earnings for a delivery before you even accept it — no surprises, no negotiating after the fact.
